    YARA-GRCG Official Opening BBQ

    yara-grcg-official-opening-for-bbq-for-gardeners-friends-152

Thank you Pier Binda and Wade Zawalski.

Over 120 hamburgers and hotdogs were served from 11:30 am until 1:00 pm on June 27th to celebrate the official opening of the YARA-GRCG with gardeners and friends. The forecast may have been rain, but we saw nothing but sunshine in the smiles of our friends!

As the Social & Education Committee taped down table cloths and tethered the tent, gardeners took advantage of this setup time to proudly show off their garden to visitors, while others did a little watering and weeding.

In a brief program, Karen said farewell to Board members Wade Zawalski and Pier Binda acknowledging their dedication with a ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ from Wayne Hellquist, CEO of the Regina and District Food Bank. Wade and Pier served on the Grow Regina Board since 2005 and were key players in the establishment of the community garden at McLeod Park.  When you see Wade and Pier in the garden, stop and thank them for their contribution to Grow Regina and your community.

Thanks to everyone who brought a dish of your favourite item to complement the BBQ main course, and a special thanks to Mike for grilling all the food.  It was delicious!
