Spinach
In you want to try an alternative, I like ‘Perpetual Spinach’. It grows fast, tastes great and does not go to flower in the heat of Saskatchewan summer before I get a chance to enjoy the crop.
It’s actually not a spinach, but a Swiss Chard that does not go to seed. Grows 1m (3 ft.) tall and produces large dark green leaves. Sow in April and July and leave lots of room for these plants: thin to 0cm (12 in.) in the row. Pick leaves regularly from the bottom of the stem to keep the plant producing.
