Gardening is not something we commonly associate with danger unless we are using motorized equipment or chemicals, but a recent article by Friday, September 24, 2010 by Jeremy Dore on gardening safety dangers reminds us “hidden in your garden are a number of dangers which are rarely talked about but which can have a profoundly negative effect on your health. The good news is that they are all easily prevented by following a few simple guidelines.”

- Avoid breathing in spores and dust
- Beware parasitic insects
- Wash vegetables and fruit carefully
- Only use composted manure
- Garden organically
- Use grey water wisely
- Be careful of stakes and canes
