    University of Saskatchewan Master Gardener Program

    Upcoming 2011 Regina Workshops
    Take the same courses from the same instructors, without driving to Saskatoon.
    All classes below are Master Gardener Core Courses. Register early, seating is limited.
    The registration deadline is two weeks prior to workshop start date.

    Garden Fundamentals
    Saturday, April 2 and Sunday, April 3
    9:00 am–4:00 pm
    Fee: $119 + GST includes $20 materials fee
    This two-day workshop packed with practical hands-on
    activities will teach you the basics of soils, climate, plant
    nutrition, botany, mulches and watering.
    NOTE: This course is a prerequisite for other core courses.
    Botanical Latin
    Saturday, April 16
    9:00 am–12:00 noon
    Fee: $64 + GST
    Understanding botanical Latin will assist you when
    selecting plants for your landscape.
    NOTE: This course is a prerequisite for other core courses.
    Communications
    Sunday, April 17
    9:00 am–4:00 pm
    Fee: $84 + GST
    This core course will give you the tools to hone your
    verbal and written communication skills.
    Safe Use of Pesticides and Alternatives
    Saturday, May 14
    9:00 am–12:00 noon
    Fee: $64 + GST
    This course covers pesticide formulations, toxicity,
    persistence, labeling and safety practices.
    NOTE: It is recommended to have taken Garden Fundamentals prior
    to taking this course.
    Common Plant Diseases
    Saturday, May 14
    1:00–4:00 pm
    Fee: $64 + GST
    Learn how to identify common diseases found in the
    landscape.
    Tree and Shrub Identification
    Sunday, May 15
    9:00 am–4:00 pm
    Fee: $84 + GST
    Study the trees and shrubs most commonly used in
    landscape designs.
    NOTE: Garden Fundamentals and Botanical Latin are prerequisites.
    All U of S Spring 2011 workshops will be held at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre.
