Volunteer Jobs for May 28 at 1 pm

This Saturday (May 28th) we will meet in the garden at 1pm for those of you who can spare some time — some of us will be working there for 3-4 hours. Please join in if you can.

Here are the list of tasks for Saturday (of course some of these can be done at other times if you are not available Saturday) Thanks all !!

Volunteer jobs for Saturday May 28th, approx. 1pm to 4pm (or any part thereof!)

    1. Help move patio blocks to the Accessible Garden area, level with sand for wheel chairs. (This is a very heavy job so please make sure you are up for it — we don’t want any injuries!) (Also, John F. could possibly use some assistance – and a bigger vehicle! – in moving the stones from his home to the garden)

    2. WEEDING!! You may have noticed the weeds along the North side (storm channel side) are getting out of control! We need to get that wild mustard etc. pulled and then possibly roto-till.

    3. A little bit lighter job would be to assist with putting up signs at the different plots to number them off so people can find their plots easily. (Bring a screwdriver!)

    4. We will need to do an ‘inventory’ – a few gardens seem not to have been claimed (or weeded!) yet and so we need to check the plot number, and call to verify if they will in fact be using their plot this year. If not, we have people who are waiting for plots!

    5. It would be good to clean up the dandelion heads that have gone to seed (if it’s not too late!), especially in the orchard. (Hmmmm … those who have orchard trees … you do know that you are to tend to the weeds around your trees don’t you?? :-)

Thanks everyone – here’s hoping for warmer weather and a great weekend in the garden!

    - Yvette

p.s. THANK YOU to those who volunteered to help look after the front flower bed this year. I will send out a separate email on that. But If I missed getting your name, please email me again! Thanks!!
