Dancing Under the Stars set for Saturday, July 16 7:30 pm to 10 pm

    Dear Gardeners

By now, all gardeners should know about Dancing Under the Stars set for Saturday night in our gardens. As part of the Secret Garden Tours, New Dance Horizons (NDH) will be bringing their public performance to Yara-Grow Regina Community Gardens Saturday evening. We hope that all our gardeners will do what it takes to make sure their plots are looking their best. The public have been invited to tour our garden on Saturday and Sunday, July 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The performance by NDH, Dancing Under The Starts is Saturday night , 7:30 to 10 p.m.

To help make the gardens presentable, we are calling for volunteers to help tidy up around the sheds, pull weeds from the paths, do some grass trimming and some of the paths need to be raked and leveled (particularly where gardeners cut trenches to move water.) We want to get a big work party out for Saturday morning. Most of the work can be done anytime, you do not need any guidance to get started on the weeds and raking right now.

In an earlier email we mentioned that gardeners can bring their own tin cans or paper lanterns to line the walkways for Saturday night. We have a small collection of tins which we can convert to lanterns Saturday morning. Throw a hammer and a few different sized nails in the back of your car – we can always use some extra hands.

If you are planning to be in the gardens, this weekend, why not schedule it during the Tour hours – Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m., to 4 p.m. Meet and chat with the visitors. And if you come to the Saturday evening Dancing Under The Stars, bring a lawn chair. NDH will install the performance stage in the centre of the gardens on the main pathway. Some seating will be provided by NDH.

I hope to see lots of you out Saturday morning and encourage you all to come out for Dancing Under the Stars.

    Sincerely

    John Fagan
    Vice-Chair, Grow Regina
